2019 Financial Fast

During this Lenten Season, which starts on Ash Wednesday (March 6, 2019) we are calling Mt. Pisgah to a financial fast. The purpose of this fast is to:

  • Promote biblical stewardship.

  • Get our financial houses in order.

  • Reduce the consumer mentality that plagues our community.

  • Increase our giving at Mt. Pisgah that we might be able to do more ministry.

  • Present a sacrificial offering to God ($40) Resurrection Sunday morning.

We believe that by applying scripture to our lives, and cultivating sound financial habits as a body of believers, the work of our hands will be blessed by the Lord.

Grace & Peace,

Rev. Dr. Stanley Hearst II, Pastor/Teacher

Create A Budget:

Budgeting allows for us to plan how we will spend and save our money from month to month. Creating a budget and sticking to it also shows us where our money is going, and how we can be better stewards of it.  Learn how to create a budget by clicking HERE

Try Tithing:

The tithe is 10% of our gross income, and it is the portion of our income that God requires us to give back faithfully. Malachi 3:10 declares, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." (NIV)

We're asking the congregation to take God at God's word, "test" God in this, and watch God open the floodgates of heaven in your life.

Start Saving:

The Bible teaches us principles for saving by using one of the smallest insects in the world, an ant. Can you believe that we can  get our financial house in order by watching how an ant operates? Proverbs 30:25 states, "Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer." They put away what they need in the summer so they won't starve in the winter.

We're asking the congregation to start with saving 5% of your gross income. Put away "food" in the summer to prepare you for the cold of the winter.
