Join Us As We Read Through The Bible In A Year

Grow At The Mount

Starting january 1, 2019

As disciples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we have a responsibility to learn and the apply the Word of God to our lives. As we move into a new year, we will be reading through the Bible as a church family. As you move through the Bible keep a journal with you to capture your thoughts and questions. This page will be updated with encouragement and advice throughout the year.

As a member of the connectional AME Church we are also excited to be sharing in this journey with one of our sister churches, Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Rev. AJ Williams, Jr., M.Div., M.Ed. serves as their most capable pastor. They are a part of the 8th Episcopal District which comprises the states of Louisiana and Mississippi.

7 Tips to Read the Bible

adapted from an article by Ron Edmonson

  1. Pray (Ask the Lord to be with you in this endeavor.)

  2. Pick an easy to read version (NIV, NRSV, HCSB, ESV)

  3. Find a plan (We have done that for you. It’s Old Testament and New Testament simultaneously.)

  4. Find a place (Preferably quiet and distraction free.)

  5. Document your reading (Journal, Journal, Journal.)

  6. Discipline yourself (commit to a certain amount of time a day to read and stick to it.)

  7. Catch up when needed (If you miss a day, just make it up.)
